While we were in the office with Dr Shemmer on a conference call with "Tony" deciding if we should try to fly out that night or how soon to get to Houston John called his brother Scott to help get us flights and all the reservations we would need for our 4 day venture. We left the next morning (yup those air tickets weren't cheap) for Houston. We had the evening to ourselves. John asked me what I wanted to do. I said let's walk. I knew I was headed for a long time of bed rest and being the busy body I am knew I better work as many last minute wiggles out I could. So we went to a few strip malls had ice cream and just talked about the twins. I really wanted to have names for the babies incase one or both passed away. So we decided to name baby a Rex (he was big, and taking over the womb) and baby b Leim (small and quite).

Provo monitoring. ..
So we go to our appointment with the MFM (maternal fetal medicine) specialist or perinatologist (spelled that wrong I'm sure) so double check our fluid levels and baby growth. We met and had our ultrasound to check EVERYTHING. It made me nervous it took so long, but I was glad they were being so cautious. Then after our ultrasound tech was done the perinatologist came in to discuss things. She said we were ok.... but they wanted us in 2 weeks for sure.
We came back at the next appointment and fluid levels were becoming even different. This meant we were heading towards Ttts. We started to see Dr. Shemmer. He had lots of information and made sure he took the time with us to answer all of our questions. Dr. Shemmer was close friends with some Dr Anthony Johnson (he even called him Tony while they would chat about us and our options in the office over the phone). He specializes in TTTS laser surgeries. TTTS has 5 stages but they watch mom's and babies until they get to stage 2. Every once in a while there isn't surgery that needs to be done and everything is fine. So we started to go to Provo every 4 days to watch the boys slowly get worse... til finally poor Baby b had no more fluid, no visible bladder or kidneys and baby a had over 13 mm of fluid and his heart was swollen. It broke my heart to have to sit back and just watch and wait for my babies to get "sick enough" to need help when it was clear to everyone they were indeed getting worse and not better. That took 3 weeks/5 appointments. Poor John having to juggle around work and being with me during all of that...
